Mokena Elementary School

Today MES was entertained by Adam Peterson, founder of the #betheyellow movement, to welcome students back to school and how we can all lift each other up.  #BeTheYellow is a movement that encourages us all to be the bright spots in each other's lives, just like a ray of sunshine. In a world that sometimes feels divided, this assembly is an opportunity for us to come together, celebrate our diversity, and focus on the things that unite us.  Students sang, collaborated to write a story together, and complimented each other.  Mr. Peterson is the author of Gigi's Yellow Garden and Yellow.  Everyone walked away filled with the positivity that Mr. Peterson strives to instill in all of us.
