3rd Graders are working hard on this hot day! In math, students are creating division sentences with hands-on counters. In ELA, students are collaborating in groups to summarize stories using a graphic organizer. Keep up the great work!
3rd grade students selected independent research reading books today as part of our new ELA curriculum! Students "test drove" many books about their module topic, "Overcoming Learning Challenges Near and Far", and found a book that was their perfect choice!
MES students gathered yesterday for an assembly led by author Adam Peterson to kick off the school's theme of "Be The Yellow". We're excited to see how students incorporate kindness this year!

Dr. Johnson, Asst. Superintendent, and Mrs. Chorley, MES Principal, recently attended the Illinois State Board of Education's Literacy Plan Listening Tour in Chicago in which they provided feedback towards the development of a roadmap to guide literacy efforts in the state.
Dr. Teri Shaw, Chief School Business Official, and Ervin Walker, Transportation Coordinator, presented information on transportation department services including budgeting, staffing, radios, and routing to new CSBOs at the IASBO Emerging CSBO Summit. Way to represent Mokena 159!
