We loved spotlighting our Kindergarten students and teachers at last night's Board of Education meeting. Students showcased their learning about different places that make up a neighborhood community and introductory map skills by sharing important places in Mokena, how these places help our town, and where they are located on an interactive map. We love to see our students making connections from the classroom! First grader Mia was visiting her grandparents in Door County this past weekend and when her grandma was reading the newspaper, Mia noticed this article about birds’ beaks and feet. She asked if she could have it to bring to school since the class has been learning so much about birds’ body parts as part of our ELA curriculum. Mia's whole class read the article together yesterday and they were so exited to hear so much familiar information about what they’ve already learned as well as some new facts. Thanks for sharing Mia and grandma!
